Thousands of people are set to lose their jobs and will have to go on Universal Credit, as employers who are still struggling to recover from the recession will be forced to make redundancies and cuts to working hours.

 

Many, for one reason or another, have been turned down for Universal Credit, which just serves to ‘twist the knife.’

 

I read an account of one lady, who saw her benefits heavily reduced because of savings she had set aside to pay a tax bill, leaving her unable to meet her rent.
