Hello
Prior to the 1920's, employees were recruited primarily via referrals. Business owners would ask friends
if they knew of anyone who could fill particular positions, most commonly in the banking, legal and accounting professions.
Commentators claim that the history of recruitment industry started with the military and goes back to the era of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. However, the contemporary recruitment industry really started only in the 1940′s.
During WWII, employment agencies formed in order to attract workers who were not obligated to serve in the military. There was a shortage of available job candidates during the war and the
recruitment industry started to take off.
Over the past few years the whole landscape of the recruitment
industry has changed almost beyond recognition. Previously, skilled professionals seeking employment would pop along to a recruitment agency and register for employment.
These days, most are now searching job listings online using job search engines and recruitment websites to find a new career opportunity and to post their resumes.
In the modern age of recruitment we now have headhunters, retained search
firms, recruitment companies, temporary staffing agencies, contingency search consultants and executive
search firms with new recruiting trends emerging through social media.
Not only has this changed the dynamics of the recruitment industry, traditional recruitment
agencies with physical offices are struggling to justify high fees as having a brick a mortar location is no longer a prerequisite to finding talented people.
With employers desperate to cut down on their recruitment cost, independent home based recruiters can fulfill that need by tapping into job boards from the comfort of their home and contact candidates who have loaded their CVs up to a CV job board providing skilled candidates saving employers £1000’s in the process.
The truth of the matter is 20 years ago having a high street recruitment agency was the most crucial way to obtain the best job
applicants; this is no longer the case.
In our modern era, CV databases and social media are
having a significant impact on the recruitment industry because high street recruitment agencies have lost leverage with their clients and applicants for that matter.
The internet has made it possible for ordinary people with drive and determination to join this highly lucrative industry. But to benefit from this you need to take action as soon as possible.
