According to the Oxford dictionary, to 'mill around' is to move around with no particular purpose or in no particular direction.
It reminds me of many people I speak to who are keen to start a business, but unsure as to which business opportunity they will sign
up for, as they are still 'just looking'; still milling around.
Wandering from eBook to eBook, launch formula home study products to webinars, the list of shiny objects are endless.
One week, they are milling about researching how to make money on Pinterest, or Facebook...
...the next week it's all about how to make your first million on YouTube.
Learning is good.
Milling is NOT.
The difference?
One word...
...ACTION.
Serial millers NEVER take action (except for clicking the buy buttons on the
shiny-object-of-the-week).
They have hard drives crammed with digital eBooks and home study courses (never review them, of course).
They have bookshelves packed solid with courses still in the wrappers.
They have so much pretend knowledge that they could (and some do) write a book of their own on what they learned from those shiny eBooks they bought.
But they never put any serious effort into actually starting something, anything.
They never actually crack the wrap and try
something out, take action.
LEARNING IS NOT THE SAME AS DOING.
If you have been milling about, you have left wakes of credit card debts and broken dreams behind you.
Not taking action reminds me
of a quote by the world-renowned motivational speaker Les Brown, who said:
"The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too
afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream."
Life is too short to wait for the right time to get started.
It is not the case that you strike while the iron's hot, you have to strike to make it hot!
